Rare disease day 2016 & Medigencon 2016
Sanofi Genzyme partnered with patient organizations and prominent institutions across South Asia to commemorate the “International Rare Disease Day” and “Medigencon” in February & March, 2016.

The theme of this years’ “Rare Disease Day” was “Patients’ Voice”, and the slogan was “Join us in making the voice of Rare Diseases heard”.

A large number of advocacy programs were supported by Sanofi Genzyme in creating awareness on rare diseases amongst key stakeholders in India, Pakistan and Maldives. These programs were attended by prominent physicians, government stakeholders, and “Cause Ambassadors” of LSDs - well known Tamil film personality Mr. Karthi Sivakumar and noted Telugu film personality & politician, Ms. Jayasudha.

Through “Medigencon”, Sanofi Genzyme conducted awareness programs in collaboration with premier academic institutes and hospitals to create awareness on Lysosomal Storage Disorders.

International MPS Day, Bengaluru: May, 2016
To commemorate the International MPS Day, a program was organized at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health (IGICH) on May 25, 2016 More than 25 MPS patients & their families attended the event in which the Director, IGICH Dr. Asha Benakappa, was the Chief Guest. Dr. Benakappa highlighted the need for collaboration between doctors, patients and care providers to improve the clinical outcomes of patients, and a patient suffering from MPS IV, currently doing engineering in Computer Science, shared her experience of living with MPS disease.

World Thyroid Day: May 25, 2016
On the occasion of World Thyroid Day, the national as well as local media across the country highlighted to the general public the need of being on the watch for thyroid diseases especially Thyroid cancer.

Pompe Day, Bengaluru: June, 2016
A program titled “Pompe Disease: 10 years of definitive therapy” was organized on June 11, 2016 at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health (IGICH), Bengaluru and attended by over 50 physicians to commemorate “Pompe Day”. The program focused on increasing the awareness on Pompe disease and on improving the clinical outcomes of Pompe patients through better diagnosis, treatment and holistic management.

'
